NYFW FAVES

With NYFW over for another season, the first thing I did was go straight onto Style.com (a great way to keep up) and pick a few of my personal highlights of New Yorks SS16. If you're looking for super serious, professional reviews - turn away now. This is my first time writing something like this, but I wanted to give it my best shot and throw myself right into it. As a fashion journalism student, I'm trying to 'widen my palette' (yes, I understand I sound disgustingly cliche) and start to understand more about writing for the fashion seasons. I'd really appreciate comments and advice on writing more stuff like this. Like I said, I really tried. Enjoy xxx

First let's start with DKNY. Looking down at my notes - all I have written is 'SUIT HEAVEN'. Tailoring is deffinitely something I'm excited about this year, It's always been one of those things I've admired from afar, but never dared to wear. DKNY are definitely giving me some inspo. Vogue.com explain the reasons behind the missing motifs and the oversized power suits, describing how Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne still haven't fully identified the DKNY girl whilst using that ever so renowned pinstripe power suit.

Naeem Khan - a designer that is completely new to me. I know, I can already feel people judging me as a fashion student. The thing that drew me to the Frida Kahlo inspired collection was the embellished gowns, oh I love a good embellishment. Can we also talk about that colour palette though?! An absolute dream. The primary reds & yellows exotically spread sewn carefully onto sheers and silks almost killed me. In a good way.

Number 3. Delpozo. I just had to get this one quickly completely on the basis of the silhouettes. I think these type of collections are my favourite type - the innovative, semi-wacky ones. I wish I could afford to wear this stuff.

Last but not least, late last night I was scrolling through Insagram and I fell in love. The prettiest
gowns I have ever seen. There's something beautiful about botanics in fashion, the feathered skirts, sheer textiles, and romantic pastels all helped towards my love affair with Marchesa SS16.

  1. I'm no expert, but from what I've read you've done really well for your first piece like this, I really enjoyed it! I'm also obsessed with DKNY, I'm loving tailoring at the moment!
