Fashion Fades; Style Is Eternal

Thursday morning, my Nannie & I drove an hour north into the little village of Barnard Castle, in County Durham to see what could be known as The Bowes Museum's most awaited exhibition yet; Yves Saint Laurent: Style is Eternal.

The Bowes Museum is a beautiful place, with stunning scenery and good food, I'd recommend to anyone, fashion fanatic or not, to visit the masses of art, clothing, furniture that John & Josephine Bowes collected over their living years. Not forgetting The 200 year old Silver Swan the museum has been renowned for all this time.

The exhibition, blew me away even more. I have always been drawn to Yves Saint Laurent, a designer anyone should be able to recognise. But I'd never realised the depth of his creativity and train of thought until I walked through the history of his creations. The thing I love about exhibitions is, I walk out feeling like I knew Saint Laurent for 50 years, when I'd really only spent an hour getting to know him.

The minute I stepped into the first room of catwalk montages and drapes covered in Saint Laurent quotes, I was reminded exactly why I love fashion so much; which is an important thing to do when you're working with something you love.

I don't want to give too much of the magic away, but hopefully some photographs will just nudge you that little bit further to County Durham.

Exhibition ends October 2015
