5 Things Nobody Told Me Before I Started University

I'd like to call that quiet three weeks a hiatus... not laziness, we mustn't get that confused. Next week, shit gets real. I'll be starting my second year of my Fashion Journalism degree in Epsom (South London NOT Surrey). So I thought I'd write a quick buzz feed style article on all the things you should probably know but won't be told when you embark on your first year of uni.

1. BE YOURSELF
Yes, I know, this sounds like something your mum would say to you with a tear in her eye as her baby leaves home. But honestly, listen to her. Otherwise, it will soon go from one extreme to another and you will spend freshers week with a group of Disney loving princesses who just CAN'T stop singing Let It Go. It took me about a week and a half to realise that I absolutely fucking hate Disney.

2. LONDON IS SHIT
Now, that's a little bit of an exaggeration, London is great, when you're bloody minted. If anyone suggests a night out clubbing in Central London, no. Just say no. Think about your purse. (This is me exaggerating and being bitter, I love London. Just still on the look out for a night out that I love.)

3. DON'T SHARE FOOD
That cupboard is yours, nobody else's. Don't make the god awful mistake of letting someone borrow gravy that one time, because next thing you know, your avocado that you were saving for your Saturday morning Instagram pic just keeps going missing.

4. HAVE NO SHAME
If the nightclub down the road with 1 pound drinks and chart music all night is your favourite type of night, don't be embarrassed. They're my fave too.

5. ACTUALLY PAY ATTENTION
Yeah, you probably will pass your first year (barely), but you'll be writing an essay in the middle of third year and have to reference back to your first semester and I tell you now, all you'll be thinking something along the lines of "Who the fuck is Vionnet!?"

I really enjoyed writing this post, takin' a break from being a serious blogger person (like I'm ever that). I felt like a little grandma that swears at her grandchildren and tells tales of the golden days. In reality, this was only last year.
